Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by Monkeypox virus. Mainly found in the rainforest regions of central and western Africa. The incubation period of Monkeypox is usually 6-13 days, which can be as long as 21 days. Initial symptoms include fever, headache, ect., which can develop into a widespread rash after 2-3 days and may lead to secondary infection.
Most of the infected people will recover within a few weeks, but some of them seriously ill or even die. The fatality rate of Monkeypox virus is 3-6%. The case fatality rate of Monkeypox virus in the West African branch is low, about 1%, while that in the Congo basin brach may be as high as 10%.
Strengthen the detection and surveillance of Monkeypox cases in order to detect imported cases and block transmission in time.
